Jacksonville Bond, First Appearance and Release Steps
JSO states that First Appearance occurs within 24 hours of arrest, with sessions at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. daily in courtroom J-1 at the John E. Goode facility. A judge reviews probable cause, pretrial release conditions and whether monetary bond should be set.
JSO says the full amount may be paid at the jail reception area by cash, qualifying certified or cashier’s check, or U.S. Postal Money Order payable to the Office of the Sheriff.
A bonding agency may post a surety bond. JSO officers cannot recommend or select a bonding agency.
A judge may set a purge amount for a civil matter such as a writ of attachment. JSO provides separate courthouse and after-hours payment instructions.
Release may wait on identity clearance, warrant checks, another charge, an outside hold, court instructions, property return or routine facility processing. JSO says release times vary.

Remote visits are initiated by the inmate and currently cost $0.25 per minute. The onsite Video Visitation Center at 500 E. Adams Street is free.
Onsite visits may be booked up to 14 days ahead and must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance. Same-day visitors are turned away.
The center uses the west-side entrance shared with First Appearance court. Published hours are Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m.–7 p.m., including holidays.
Keep the face visible, wear appropriate clothing and do not record, livestream or rebroadcast the visit.
